One of my friends has recently been diagnosed with Leukaemia, which was an awful shock to all of us.
Matt. Dalley, who is only 19 years old has been working for us at our local social club for a while and is always cheerful and chirpy has suddenly been diagnosed with Leukaemia and has had to go to a specialist unit many miles from family and friends for treatment.
To show how much we care about him, we, (The Wadebridge Social Club), decided to hold a fun day and fund raising event and donate the proceeds to CLIC Sargent in Matts. name.
The original idea of the event came from another of Matts. Friends, Tarnia and aided by Tony she organised a whole day of fun, games, music, food and drink and we hoped that some people would come to support us.
Come the day, the sun was shining and it was warm, would anybody come??
We needn't have worried the good folks of Wadebridge came in their hundreds, I have never seen so many people at the club. Not only that, everyone was so generous. All the local businesses gave us something for a monster raffle, so many people gave up time to make this happen.
The result was we raised well over £2,000 and the cash is still coming in. Other events are planned like a fancy dress cycle ride on this Sunday, once again Tarnias brainwave.
I would like to say a huge personal THANK YOU to everyone who helped in any way and a massive THANK YOU to everybody who came and supported Matt.
If you would like to add to Matts. Fund you can do so by visiting this site...
